Welcome to the Eden Country Nanny desk.
For those families who live in a more
provincial or rural setting, we are delighted to
be able to assist you in your search for a first
class nanny or maternity nurse. From our offices
in Bath, we offer clients and candidates who
live anywhere outside the M25, a comprehensive
and dedicated Nanny and Maternity Nurse service.
We look after increasing numbers of families and
households outside London and support the
growing numbers of child carers seeking
positions in provincial towns and rural areas.
Many families take the decision to move away
from London, but still require the support of a
professional or experienced full-time childcarer
and an agency who will maintain the high
standards expected in sourcing childcare.
The ‘Country Desk’ applies the same quality
approach that our reputation is already built
on, with regards to interviewing, sourcing and
referencing of candidates. All potential
candidates are personally interviewed, have a
work history that we can fully explore and will
have a full CRB (police) check and an up to date
First Aid Certificate. In addition, only those
candidates with at least 3 years full time
relevant work experience or 2 years experience
with a recognised childcare qualification will
be registered.
One of the great advantages of employing a
'country' nanny is the candidates' understanding
that flexibility and a 'muck in' attitude is
important. This may include such tasks as
walking the dog(s!), feeding the chickens,
sheep, horses or taking the children for a good
long walk!
We are here to help, so please call Melanie
Chalfont-Griffin or Sophie Pascal for good
advice and further information on employing a
nanny on 01225 904556
Description of
Roles
A Country Nanny
– can normally expect to be very much part of
the family, so will need to be a good team
player with a flexible outlook. Quite often the
care of children is shared, as many parents
work/run businesses from home, therefore the
duties will perhaps be more varied. Duties will
of course be agreed from the outset, however it
would not be unusual to have included dog
walking, chicken feeding or other outside
activities. It goes without saying that the
nanny should enjoy a country lifestyle and all
it brings.
Mothers Help
– the role/duties would be similar to the nanny
role with a few key differences: as most
candidates are typically much younger and
usually just qualified, the care of the children
would definitely need to be shared. A mothers
help would be suitable for clients who are
prepared to work with the candidate, giving the
benefit of their own experience and happy to
offer guidance and advice. A mothers help would
be a less expensive option for a family.
Nanny Housekeeper
– quite often this type of role is most suited
to families who have older children at school
all day, so the housekeeper can attend to
household duties before they return home.
Generally, apart from care of the children
(sometimes including help with/supervising
homework) the role will also encompass doing
such duties as the family laundry, some basic
cleaning, dog walking and family cooking.
Nanny Groom
– this role is the same for the nanny role
above, but would also include help with the
horses/ponies. Yard/stable duties could
comprise: mucking out, turning out/bringing in,
filling hay nets/feeding, grooming, keeping tack
clean possibly hacking out/riding or
accompanying children on ponies on foot and
generally keeping a tidy yard/stables.
Salary guide for
domestic staff:
Live in £300 - £400 net per week
Live out £350 – £450 net per week
(This is only a guide and may vary from region
to region)
