All our registered
maternity nurses have been interviewed in person by us,
and have had their background and references thoroughly
checked. We continually update references after each booking
of which we are aware, but for your own reassurance we
do recommend that you check a sample of these references
personally.
It is essential that you find a nurse who suits
your own particular circumstances and needs. Therefore,
we recommend that you register with us as early as possible
so that you have the opportunity to make a choice from
our register of high calibre professional nurses, such
as:
A nurse may be interviewed and booked months in advance
of starting work, but please bear in mind that many nurses
will have only limited times when they are available
to be interviewed. Whether they are in the UK or overseas,
they will usually have only one day off per week in which
to meet you.
- Mature traditional nurses with many years of experience,
who have made maternity nursing their career.
- Mature nurses with paediatric qualifications who
have chosen to change into a community based role.
- Younger nurses with paediatric qualifications and
experience who have extended this into maternity work.
- Younger nurses with much experience of newborns
and who have moved into maternity nursing.
Once you have registered and decided on the profile
of your ideal nurse, I will discuss with you the nurses
we have to offer. I will send to you (by mail, fax
or e-mail) copies of CVs and sample references for
those in whom you express an interest and who may be
interested in your position. When you have looked through
the CVs and chosen any of interest I will arrange a
meeting at a mutually convenient time. If it were difficult
to organise this, due to the nurse being overseas perhaps,
I would suggest a telephone interview initially.
When you have made your decision the booking must be
confirmed with us at Eden Maternity in writing, stating
a definite start date. If your baby should arrive earlier
than anticipated, your booked nurse might be available
to start work sooner. If she is unable to do so, then
we are happy to help provide an emergency maternity nurse
for you. In such circumstances, you will still be obliged
to take your booked nurse for the originally booked dates.
If your baby arrives later than anticipated and the maternity
nurse is not required to start on the agreed date, the
nurse is on call from the original start date and must
be paid a retainer of 50% of the agreed weekly rate.
For overseas bookings it will usually be necessary to
conduct telephone interviews before meeting the candidate
in London or your home. If you require a nurse to travel
overseas toy our home for an interview, the travel costs
will be at your expense. If you choose to come to London
to interview our candidates, Eden Maternity has a meeting
room that can be used.
Although Eden Maternity introduces maternity nurses
to you, they are all self-employed while working with
you. Therefore, they are responsible for their own income
tax and National Insurance contributions.
